VICTORIA ISD EARNS STATE’S HIGHEST FISCAL ACCOUNTABILITY RATING Victoria Independent School District officials announced that the district received a rating of “A - Superior Achievement” under Texas’ school financial accountability rating system, known as the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST). This system provides accountability for Texas public schools on the quality of their financial management practices to maximize financial resources for direct instructional purposes. The rating is based on an analysis of the district’s financial data for fiscal year 2023-2024. The “Superior Achievement” rating is the state’s highest, demonstrating the quality of Victoria ISD’s financial management and reporting system. “We are extremely proud of Victoria ISD’s School FIRST rating,” said Michelle Yates, Chief Financial Officer. “This rating shows that our district is making the most of our taxpayers’ dollars.” The Texas Education Agency assigns one of four financial accountability ratings to Texas school districts, with the highest being “A” for “Superior Achievement,” followed by “B” for “Above-Standard Achievement,” “C” for “Standard Achievement” and “F” for “Substandard Achievement.” NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO DISCUSS VICTORIA ISD’s STATE FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY RATING The Victoria ISD will hold a public hearing, as part of the regular VISD School Board meeting, at 6:00 p.m., October 16, 2025. This meeting will take place in the Boardroom at 102 Profit Drive, Victoria, Texas. The purpose of this hearing is to discuss Victoria ISD’s rating under the state’s financial accountability system.
